Skegness, Sunday 13th July 2008

It was almost Groundhog Day at Skegness for the second part of the weekender, as once again Chris Cowley went for a big last bend shot on Mark Helliwell in the Final. But experience counts for a lot, and this time Helliwell was ready and beat Cowley to the line by the narrowest of margins for his first ever Final win. Another first was Michael Scriven’s first race win since being upgraded to red. Read more

Skegness, Saturday 12th July 2008

With the F1s apparently playing second fiddle to the F2 and Saloon UK Championships, just over 40 travelled to the Skegness July weekender where Chris Cowley took a career first Final win in dramatic style, with a big last bend attack on long time leader Mark Helliwell. Also looking good were second generation white tops Joe Booth, son of Steve (ex-446); and James Clement, son of Keith (ex-58). Read more

Updates (or lack of!) to this site

For a variety of personal and domestic reasons, your webmaster will not be going to any F1 meetings until the Skegness weekender in July. So there won’t be any meeting reports until then (unless somebody sends some in).

Belle Vue, Monday 26th May 2008

Stu Smith netted his fourth Final win of the season with a spectacular victory at Belle Vue. Visibly the quickest car on track, Smith applied liberal use of the front bumper to anyone who got in his way. Unfortunately, the meeting was marred by some adverse weather conditions. Not the traditional Manchester rain, but heavy winds which caused dust problems. Read more
